Is my basset fat?

Is my basset fat?

The other day at the vet he weighed 82 lbs according the scale. Vet said she’d like to see him lose a little weight. We usually walk for about 30 min a day which usually ends up being 1-1.5 miles depending on the sniffs. As far as food, he’s fed twice a day and I put some brewers yeast tablets and seameal in his food for his skin, coat and digestion.

It was all about Alfie

It was all about Alfie

It’s easier to walk around the house today. I no longer have to avoid the crumbs of last night’s cookie or the splash trail left by your ears after drinking your fill.
The rooms are bigger now, without your blankets, beds, and cushions spread throughout them. There’s space where there used to be comfort and presence, and now only quiet emptiness.
The silence is so loud today. Loud enough that I notice the hum of machines I had never heard before instead of your breathing, labored though it was. I no longer have my concentration broken by the clickety-clack of your nails as you brought me your love and peace.
There’s extra time today. No longer do I check the water bowls in every room or search for something that might tempt you to eat. I no longer wait for you as you follow me from room to room, holding the door open for you and gently closing it behind you.
There will be more money now, I’m sure, without the extra cost of loving you and wanting nothing more than your comfort and joy.
But I want none of these things. I do not want more space, more time, or more money.
And the silence is slowly killing me.
I miss you, little girl.
